GIRL WITH A PEARL
The project was inspired by the seventeenth-century painting “Girl with Pearl” by Jan Vermeer, and the musical “Moulin Rouge”. It consisted of a photo session and costumes and styling. Isabel March took the audience to the crazy world of the French cabaret of the 1920s and 1930s. Stylizations, hairstyles, headgear and other accessories were designed by Isabel March, based on the trends from that century. Models dressed in costumes, were referring to the most splendid revue performances in the famous Parisian district of the Red Lanterns. The bodies of the models were covered with delicate sheery fabrics, which in a sensual way revealed the essence of female charms. Sensuality was intensified by lace fabrics decorated with precious stones. The theme of the pearl returned in each frame and was a direct reference to the title Girl with a pearl. Scenery of the session were unusual Venetian interiors: walls covered with intricately woven fabrics, hand-painted canvases and stylish furniture which merged the whole picture.
